A Academia Internacional das Artes e Ciências Televisivas anunciou nesta terça-feira (12), os indicados à 74ª edição do Emmy, que será realizado em 12 de setembro. Zendaya e Donald Glover estão entre os indicados a melhor atriz e ator, ela na categoria drama por seu papel em Euphoria e ele na categoria comédia pela atuação na série Atlanta.
Neste ano, a seleção inclui todas as atrações da TV aberta, a cabo e do streaming inscritas entre junho de 2021 e maio de 2022. Zendaya é a pessoa mais jovem da história a ter duas indicações ao prêmio e a única mulher negra da sua categoria este ano. Em “Euphoria”, série que lhe rendeu a indicação, a atriz interpreta uma jovem com dependência química.
Uma das cenas mais comentadas e comoventes da personagem na última temporada, considerada na análise do Emmy, é uma sequência de dezesseis minutos em que Rue está em crise de abstinência. Durante a cena Zendaya chutou uma porta com tanta força que se feriu na perna, a atuação foi um improviso da atriz na dinâmica da cena que envolvia ainda brigas com a mãe, a irmã e a então namorada Jules (Hunter Schafer).
Além de Zendaya e Donald Glover outros nomes indicados são Janelle James, Sheryl Lee Ralph (Abbott Elementary) e Sarah Niles (Ted Lasso) na categoria melhor atriz coadjuvante em série de comédia e Toheeb Jimoh (Ted Lasso) na categoria melhor ator coadjuvante em série de comédia. Abbott Elementary que conta a história de uma história negra fictícia na Filadélfia concorre como melhor série em comédia.
